Jews of Malta
About This Novel
"The Jew of Malta" is one of Marlowe's famous plays. The protagonist is Barabas, a wealthy, greedy, cruel, and scheming man. By portraying Barabas, a money worshiper who has an endless pursuit of money and wealth, the author lashes out at all the ugliness in the period of primitive accumulation of capital. In order to avenge the death of his daughter for the loss of his wealth, Barabas conspired to rebel. He first sold the island of Malta to the Turks, and then planned to put the Turkish conquerors into a boiling pot, but he was killed in the sea of fire. Christopher Marlowe (Christopher Marlowe), Elizabethan playwright, poet, and translator, was born in the same year as Shakespeare. Marlowe is famous for his blank verse and tragedy.
