About This Novel

This book tells the story of Jane Eyre, whose parents died young. She suffered discrimination and abuse from her aunt since she was a child, and was eventually sent to an orphanage. With her self-reliant character, she found a job as a tutor at Thornfield Manor, and fell in love with Rochester, the owner of the manor. However, when they were about to get married, someone testified that Rochester was already married. For equality and self-esteem, Jane Eyre left Rochester resolutely. When she returned to Thornfield Manor, she discovered that Rochester's mad wife had set fire to the house and fell to his death. Rochester was also injured and disabled. Eventually, Jane Eyre married him and got her ideal happy life. The work is simple and vivid, embodies the European Romantic literary tradition, and shows the author's rich imagination and poet's temperament.
