About This Novel

He exposed the cruelty of serf owners and the miserable life of serfs, and was therefore exiled. While in prison, he wrote the short story "Mumu" to protest against serfdom. In every notebook story, in addition to the image of the "hunter", another feature is the description of nature. Regardless of the colors, sounds and smells, they all show the writer's keen insight, hearing and delicate sensibility. No wonder Tolstoy asserted that no writer after Turgenev dared to describe natural scenery.
