About This Novel

"Flowers in the Mirror" is a novel written by Li Ruzhen, a famous novelist in the Qing Dynasty. The novel is divided into two parts: the first part describes the experience of Tang Ao, who was frustrated in his official career, and Lin Zhiyang, Duo Jiugong and others who traveled to the sea, and described their encounters and knowledge in countries such as the Girl Country, the Gentleman Country, the Intestinal Country, and the Black Teeth Country. The second part records the story of Wu Zetian's selection of talented women in the imperial examination, Tang Ao's daughter Tang Guichen and ninety-nine other talented women who passed the examination.
