About This Novel

The author started writing in 2003 and ended in 2018. The writing spans as long as fifteen years, recording and narrating the vicissitudes of two generations from the mainland to Xinjiang in more than fifty years. The book has a polyphonic structure. One main line tells about the vicissitudes of the past generation who blindly fled to Xinjiang to escape suffering; the other main line tells about "I" who persisted in traveling back and forth between Xinjiang and Guangxi for fifteen years in order to realize his literary dream, accompany his wife to visit relatives, and escape the pain caused by life in the south, and finally completed the "transition" of his soul. This book is a work selected for the 2016 fixed-point in-depth life project of the Chinese Writers Association.
