The Wind Sinks and the Cicada Speaks Late
by Yu Ziniu
About This Novel
"The wind sinks and the cicada whispers late" was born out of King Luo Bin's poem "The wind blows louder and the cicada sinks easily". With cicada shed as the core clue, it connects the inheritance stories of the three generations of the Chen family, a family of traditional Chinese medicine in Tongcheng, Anhui. From the great grandfather using cicada sloughs to treat illnesses and save people, and carving the word "Shou Yi" on the edge of the Immortal Pond to stick to his original intention, to Chen Shouzhuo inheriting medical skills to protect his neighbors, to Chen Zijun and Lin Xiao working together to promote the cicada slough therapy to a cross-ethnic and transnational stage, the novel outlines the endless development of traditional Chinese medicine culture with gentle writing. In the story, there are cicada sloughs from poplar forests in Xinjiang, the scent of grassland medicine from Yushu in Qinghai, the teachings of Master Wenqing of Fahua Temple, and the relay inheritance of villagers and students of all ethnic groups. It not only shows the transformation of cicada sloughs from medicinal value to spiritual symbol, but also writes about the benevolence of doctors who persevere in difficulties and pass on innovations. From the locust tree in the old hospital in Tongcheng to the international podium in Geneva, from the small "Double Cicadas Protect Hometown" clinic to the "Cicadas' Medical Warmth Alliance" that connects many places, this work is not only a tribute to the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine, but also an affectionate ode to ordinary people protecting the roots of culture and conveying the love of the world.
