About This Novel

This novel vividly describes and shows the process of the Chinese coolies being trafficked to Peru in the mid-19th century, their encounters at sea, and their inhuman suffering and tragic fate in the plantations and guano fields of Peru in four large chapters. The novel uses compassion to express the hard work of the Chinese coolies in a foreign country, their struggle against fate, and their endless longing for their distant motherland and relatives. At the same time, it creates a group of vivid images of Chinese workers, and focuses on showing their unique life destiny and amazing life experiences.
