About This Novel

Wystan Hugh Auden (1907-1973) had rich poetry, proficient poetic skills, and a broad poetic path. He is recognized as one of the most important English poets after T. S. Eliot. Professor Edward Mendelson, the trustee of his literary estate, said: "Among the poets who wrote in English, Auden is the first one who truly belongs to the twentieth century." The poet Joseph Brodsky even more respectfully called Auden "the greatest mind of the twentieth century" and a "critic" of the twentieth century.
