About This Novel
People in Wazhuang remember clearly that it was a late spring evening when Lie Lian first came to Wazhuang. I also remember very clearly that after school that day, Gejingou and I did not go home directly, but ran in the rapeseed field. Although the rapeseed flowers were in decline, because the field was full of this kind of plant, what caught our eyes was still a large golden field. As the breeze blew, rapeseed pollen went straight into our noses, throats and chests. Gejingou and I kept sneezing, making both sides of our noses slightly sore. We ran to the embankment by the river. There was a kind of fruit called yoyoer growing near the river. When ripe, the color was bright red, and the little fingers were as small as human beings, full of honey. After taking a bite of the sugar water, we rushed to see if they were ripe.
