Compilation and Reconstruction of Official History: the Perspective of Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties
by Chen Xiaowei
About This Novel
The three histories of Liao, Jin and Yuan, which record the ups and downs of the Bei nationality's political power from the 10th to the early 14th century, are a kind of historical writing by later generations of historians. Many important traditional issues that have triggered heated discussions in academic circles have been proven to be often misled by the unexamined "historical view" of the Three Histories. The author of this book uses the concept of "historical source investigation" to analyze the compilation issues of the Three Histories. Through a series of clues running through the "sources of official history", "the compiler's historical understanding", and "national history narrative and the consciousness of the Bei people", he attempts to break the dynastic history system constructed by the Three Histories, and advocates exploring the characteristics and problems of the political culture of the Bei people dynasty in the context of the dissemination of historical materials in the Song and Yuan dynasties.
