About This Novel

This book is a collection of essays commemorating the retirement of Professor Deng Xiaonan of Peking University. It brings together the latest academic achievements of a group of young and middle-aged scholars in the fields of Song Dynasty and other fields. The book is divided into four parts: a detailed study of the political system from the Five Dynasties to the Two Song Dynasties, a re-exploration of major historical events in the Song Dynasty such as the Chanyuan Alliance and Duanping's entry into Luo, an in-depth analysis of important documents and texts related to Song history, and a review of the academic history of the Song Dynasty's finance, military affairs, society, and Xu Wei's ritual documents. Half of the papers in the book are published for the first time, and the published papers were revised when included. The collected papers not only display the latest results of relevant topic research, but also include a comprehensive review and in-depth reflection on the academic history of related fields. The title of the collection "Ji Wei" is taken from the two hexagrams Ji Ji and Wei Ji in the Book of Changes. It is not only a tribute to Professor Deng Xiaonan's emeritus, but also a reminder for young scholars on how to face the endless challenges in the future.
