Sense and Sensibility (All Three Volumes)
About This Novel
"Sense and Sensibility" is the first novel that British writer Jane Austen started writing when she was nineteen years old. The novel takes the love story of two sisters as the main line and is named "Eleanor and Marianne". More than ten years later, the work was renamed "Sense and Sensibility" and published. This was Austen's first published novel. In the novel, two sisters, Enolie and Marianne, were born into a British squire family. The elder sister Eleanor is sensible, cautious in words and deeds, and knows how to restrain her emotions. The younger sister Marianne is innocent and enthusiastic and acts sensibly. Therefore, when facing love, they make different choices... Austen combines reason and emotion. It cleverly contrasts the senses, and details the inner twists and turns of the two sisters, Edward, Colonel Brandon, Willoughby and other young men and women when they fall in love and get married. It depicts the pros and cons of the characters in a detailed and comprehensive way. The dialogue is full of wit, and it uses this to humorously show the British society in the eighteenth century in many aspects. This book is equipped with 40 classic illustrations by British illustrator Hugh Thomson. The translation has been carefully polished to fit the original work, making it smooth, elegant and easy to read.
