About This Novel

"Defending Yan'an" is a novel written by the modern writer Du Pengcheng. It is the first large-scale positive description of the Liberation War in the history of contemporary Chinese literature. The novel takes a company of the Chinese People's Liberation Army participating in the battles of Qinghua Bian, Panlong Town, Yulin, and Shajiadian as the main line. It artistically reproduces the historical scenes of the Yan'an Defense War in 1947, shapes the heroic images of the PLA officers and soldiers at all levels, and reveals the ideological proposition that the spirit of revolutionary heroism is the inner strength of war victory.
