About This Novel
The 2009 CCTV1 opening drama "Walking to the West Exit" is a novel of the same name, interpreting the legend of a generation of Shanxi merchants, a story of struggle written by Shanxi people with blood, tears, tenacity and integrity. The novel tells the story of Tian Qing, a young scholar in Qi County, Shanxi Province, who left his hometown and headed west due to family changes and life pressure in the early years of the Republic of China. After going through many hardships, he finally gained a foothold in Baotou, but due to warlord fighting and social unrest, he realized that only revolution could truly lead the life he longed for.
