The short and ugly rich man Wu Daguanren used money to buy the beautiful lady Jinlian as his wife. Although Wu Daguanren was gentle and considerate to Jinlian, the emotionally empty Mrs. Jinlian was always depressed. By chance, Mrs. Jin Lian met Ximen Qing, a young migrant worker who was young, powerful and handsome. They fell in love at first sight. With the secret help of Wang Ma, the two young people went through many obstacles and fell in love. They finally broke through the feudal shackles and eloped away. Jin Lian chose the latter between wealth and love. She was willing to live in poverty but also stay with her lover. Is it really easy to judge who is right and wrong in all this?
When I first read it, I felt that the author's article was like a melody, with long twists and turns. After reading the second half, I actually didn't quite understand the hero and heroine. Are the inner qualities and behaviors of the hero and heroine intrinsic? (What is the warmth that the author talks about needs to be read and understood later.) How long can the passion flame mentioned in the last part last? Will industry really destroy society? I still feel that the mistress is lost because of these behaviors caused by lust. Lust can be pursued, but it can take another form.
The work is very old and may be a bit out of date. Just read it.
