About This Novel

This book is Verne's science fiction adventure novel. There is no Chinese translation in China yet, and this publication is the first translation. Verne was inspired to write this book by Defoe's "Robinson Crusoe". The novel tells the story of the Zermatt family who escaped to a desert island in a shipwreck. Unlike Robinson Crusoe who was eventually rescued and returned to England, the family described by Verne never left the island named "New Switzerland". They lived peacefully on the island for 10 years. In the tenth year, they found a piece of cloth with a distress letter and found the surviving British girl Jenny on a nearby island. She was the only daughter of a colonel in the British Army in India. She was also shipwrecked and drifted to a small island next to New Switzerland. Soon after, the British "Unicorn" deviated from its course due to a storm and came to New Switzerland Island by accident. It came to find Jenny. The Zemats decided not to leave New Switzerland, and the Unicorn took Jenny back to England with Zemat's two sons. Send them away, and the Zemat family faces the threat of indigenous attacks. Jenny and the others returned to New Switzerland Island after all the hardships, and together with their family defeated the indigenous attack.
