About This Novel
This book is based on the love affair between General Li Jing and Yang Su's prostitute Hongfu in the late Sui Dynasty. It looks at history from a modern perspective and shows the embarrassing situation of intellectuals in an anti-intellectual society. In the complicated intertwining of history and reality, illusion and reality, the novel seems absurd, but it embodies the irony of reality and the yearning for freedom and fun. As Wang Xiaobo said in the preface: "I write about the heart rather than the appearance, and the similarity in spirit rather than appearance."

Don't read it, everyone, this is the castrated version. Too little is too much.
I used to think that my smile was weird, but after reading Mr. Wang Xiaobo's book, I realized that I am not unique.
There should be hope in life, this is the moral. Hong Fu had hope and became the wife of Duke Wei from a singer. Wang Er was hopeful, so he proved Fermat and became a popular person. The fact is that if people have no hope, their lives will not change. Wang Er is a math teacher and corrects homework day after day. Boring. But at night, he is free and unconstrained all the time.
