About This Novel

This book "Idiot" narrates the stage when "I" entered adulthood between the ages of eighteen and twenty-two, that is, between 1958 and 1962. The author's exploration of the female body, the conflicting relationship with the so-called "reality", the tension in each moment of moving toward art and broader humanity, and the continuous impulse of rebellion: resisting "my" beloved father; "I" enlisted in the army and then became a soldier in the Algerian war, resisted military authority, was arrested, accused, tortured, imprisoned, and then sent to a disciplinary department. "My" rebellion at that time and its consequences: running away from home, hunger, theft, guilt, wandering, several blows and imprisonment in the army, the physical manifestations of the rejection of this imposed reality: the reader will read some impressive scenes in the book. Inner tragedies, politics, friendships, comradeship, and funny things are all experienced in the physical impulse of youth.
