Twelve Years a Slave (translation Classic)
About This Novel
"Twelve Years a Slave" comes from Solomon's personal experience. He was a free black man living in New York State, but was kidnapped and began his life as a slave. The publication of this book influenced the subsequent abolition movement in the United States and influenced modern American history. It was included in American history textbooks and required reading lists for students. Together with another famous book "Uncle Tom's Cabin", it is called an immortal classic that promoted the abolition process. The place where Solomon Northup was sent was exactly where Uncle Tom was imprisoned in the novel; Northup's description of the life and events there are also strikingly similar to the stories in my novel. --Mrs. Stowe (author of "Uncle Tom's Cabin")
