Layered World
by Enlightenment Without Words
About This Novel
There are no clear boundaries in this city, and there are no tall walls to separate the crowds, but everyone lives in their own circle, as if entangled by invisible threads, it is difficult to break away. Some people are struggling in the dust, spending their whole lives for a full meal and a shelter; some are running around in the neon lights, struggling for positions, wages, and a decent life; some are lonely in the clouds, sitting on endless wealth and power, but cannot find true warmth and freedom. They share the same sky, breathe the same air, and even pass each other on the same street, but they have never really entered each other's world. The differences in life circles, the inertia of thinking that has long been engraved in the bones, and the insurmountable social status have quietly woven into a web, trapping different people in their own dimensions. Some people are content with the status quo, some are climbing desperately, some are getting lost while climbing, and some are reclusive after seeing through. This is not a deliberate division of classes, but a distance slowly accumulated through daily life - an invisible, intangible, but real barrier, hidden in every meal, every piece of clothing, every conversation, and even every look. The people in our story are in this layered world, each ups and downs, and each searching.
