About This Novel

"Children by the Railway" tells the story of a happy family that is in trouble because their father was wrongly imprisoned. The mother took her three children and left the warm life in the city to live beside the railway in the countryside. Not only were they not defeated by the embarrassing environment, but they used their courage, optimism and kindness to overcome one hardship after another and weave one warm and touching story after another. These include helping an exiled Russian writer find his family; bravely rescuing a train to avoid a disaster; putting out a fire on a barge and saving a baby and a dog; kindly saving a little boy injured in a tunnel... These stories are both interesting and touching, and their noble actions have won everyone's respect. Finally, with the help of kind-hearted people, Dad was able to clear his grievances and the family returned to a happy life.
