About This Novel
In a small town in Northeast Japan that can only be proud of its swans in winter, I studied at an all-boys high school that adheres to the school motto of "substantial and strong" and has a senior-to-undergraduate system. I was bullied by my seniors every day, no female classmates liked me, and even my best friends were not in the same school. Kitano Takeshi's late-night broadcast was the only solace for my soul. I wanted to form a rock band, I wanted to leave the town and go to Tokyo, I wanted to join the "Kitano Takeshi Army"... In these boring days with no end in sight, an uncle who was extremely obsessed with swans became the person I confided to. "Uncle Swan" seems unsociable and unreliable, but he always gives me a strong push when I am hesitant. With him by his side, I went through a high school life full of bumps and tumbles, full of jokes, worries and the smell of sweat.
