"Major General Ziqian's Mother" was written in 1949. It mainly describes the story of Major General Ziqian's mother in the Yuan family. Shihei, who was the left minister at the time, was greedy for the beauty of the Zaiyuan clan, so he planned to seize the Zaiyuan clan during the National Sutra Family Banquet and incorporated it into his own palace. The young Ziqian missed his mother eagerly, and with the help of others, he was able to visit his mother, but was later discovered by the cunning Shiping. After that, Ziqian could no longer contact his mother behind the high wall. However, the old man Guo Jing, who lost his beloved wife, could not restrain his longing for his wife, so he studied Buddhism and died in depression. In the end, Ziqian, who has reached middle age, could not suppress the longing for his mother. By chance, he finally met Zaiyuan, who had already become a monk. Aesthetic writer Junichiro Tanizaki uses the classical literary techniques of "The Tale of Genji" to narrate the ups and downs of the two families, which is thought-provoking.
