"Everything has a destiny" is a constant concept in traditional Chinese philosophy. It believes that everything has its unique destiny and password, and that human destiny is dominated by supernatural and mysterious forces. However, in Taoist culture, there is also the saying "My destiny is not in heaven but in me", which emphasizes that people can change their destiny by constantly improving themselves. This pair of philosophies becomes the overarching theme throughout this collection of novels. Bayu's novella collection "Destiny" is composed of twelve short stories and short stories. The novels reflect the fate of the protagonists in different social fields and different class levels since the reform and opening up from different perspectives in urban and rural areas.
