About This Novel
After "White Night Walk", Keigo Higashino severely interrogates contemporary society and family, a breakthrough work that challenges the bottom line of human ethics and morality! From the novel to the movie of the same name, it has caused a sensation in Japan. Even if the body is gone, our souls can't leave this lakeside! For their children's entrance exam, four families came to the lakeside villa for pre-exam training. The husband's lover followed but was killed in the middle of the night. The wife confessed: "I killed her." The husband planned to call the police, but the neighbors tried their best to help the wife conceal the crime. After everyone's persuasion, the husband finally joined the ranks of destroying the corpses. However, when he calmed down, he realized that all this was very unreasonable. When the truth was revealed, he could no longer escape...

It is both a satire on modern education and a mockery of human nature. On the surface, it seems that he is selling his body for the sake of his children, but in fact he also has his own selfish desires. He did not expect that the child is the murderer. . .
The reasoning in this book is not very reasonable. Since everyone has guessed that it was a child who committed the murder, can't they find out who it is? There are only four children, so it should be easy to find. If someone kills someone and helps destroy the body, the consequences will be serious. Don't these parents know their children's nature clearly? The child has a high IQ, so there are so many adults, can't they find out who is the murderer?
The examination for admission to higher education only tests the child's learning ability and knowledge capacity, but the assessment of personality requires the family to guide and cultivate the child throughout his life. Knowledge is important, but the distortion of human nature can bring great disasters. Facing the reality of society and life, as an individual with self-awareness, he can adapt to its horror and unknown. Adults can perceive the environment, recognize themselves, and act according to their ability, but for children, what they understand is always to imitate and accept. Therefore, a beautiful family is the wealth of a child's life, while a disharmonious family not only devours the remaining beauty of the adults, but also buries their own children.
Why did Minako kill Mileko? I can't figure it out
Why did Minako kill Mileko? I can't figure it out
I feel that Keigo Higashino's book not only brings careful reasoning, but also a deeper dissection of human nature and a restoration of social reality. That's what I think, humble opinion!
Lakeside - Book Review
I think the murderer is not a child. In fact, if you think about it carefully, assuming that it is really a child, then if Teacher Tsukumi already knows the evidence of Miriko and is indifferent, it also means that for Tsukumi, "going through the back door" is more unacceptable than killing someone. Otherwise, Tsukumi would have killed Miriko. If it is not so unacceptable to be found "going through the back door", then when Mileko is facing death, if it is a child who kills someone, Tsukumi has nothing to do with the children, why should Tsukumi bear another crime that may be discovered? Then if the murderer is not a child, Tsukumi is undoubtedly the murderer. And the first person to know about this matter was undoubtedly Tsukumi. He wanted to use the power of everyone to solve Mileko, and the link between them was the child. Only Tsukumi can forge these false certificates!
The hearts of parents in the world are pitiful, and so are their children. Parents are actually hurting them in the name of love... I have read several books by Mr. Dongwu, and children are often the hidden protagonists. Use them as a bond to describe family affection and social ethics.
It pointedly points out the various forms of relationships after entering the siege of marriage. Although it is disgusting, it is true. It is difficult to understand why once you enter the siege, you have to endure it even if something unacceptable such as cheating occurs. Isn't it better to just break up? The weakening of the relationship plus the trivial things happening here and there create a bad environment for children to grow up in. They are obviously complaining about each other but have to endure being together. It is not the children who are hurt the most. Is it possible that only a family with healthy parents is the standard for a good family? Children feel aggrieved and angry, but they have to submit to their parents' choices. It's really pitiful.
I read this book in 2 hours and 36 minutes. The first half was tense, but the second half was more relaxed. But all in all, I was so nervous at night that I couldn't sleep. The ending is unexpected, but it makes sense. The foreshadowing is set up so well.
