"Shameless" is Duras's debut novel. The writing is beautiful, which is very different from the sonorous and powerful works in his later period. However, the triangle relationship that haunts the author throughout his life is formed here: daughter, son, mother. The son and mother transcended the relationship between good and evil and formed a complex and strange alliance, while the little girl was forever expelled from her mother's love. This strange family, this sticky and protective ball of love and hate, becomes the theme of this book. Margaret said: "This book fell from me: fears and desires, malice stemming from a difficult childhood..." The novel has a strong autobiographical color, and its characters and concepts of love set the tone for Duras's future creations.
