About This Novel
The heroine Elizabeth in the book was born in a family of small landowners and was loved by Darcy, the son of a rich man. Regardless of the gap in family status and wealth, Darcy proposed to Elizabeth, but was rejected by her. The main reason why Elizabeth rejected Darcy was that she hated his arrogance. Later, through her interactions with Darcy, Elizabeth got to know Darcy's attitude towards life, especially when she saw that he had changed from the proud and conceited demeanor in the past. Elizabeth gradually eliminated her misunderstanding and prejudice against Darcy, and finally concluded a happy marriage with him. Elizabeth's different attitudes towards Darcy's two proposals actually reflect women's pursuit of personal independence and equal rights.
