About This Novel
The protagonist of the novel, Han Zhiqiu, was specially recruited into the army after graduating from university and came to serve as the platoon leader of Regiment D of an emergency mobile combat unit. Regiment D was temporarily stationed on an island without women, known as the "Single Island". It was far away from the mainland, had inconvenient transportation, and difficult conditions. Marriage and love among officers and soldiers became a constant problem. The sweetness of love filled Han Zhiqiu's college years with sunshine and brilliance. The sweet-scented osmanthus tree in front of the girls' dormitory was the starting point for every date he had with his girlfriend. Every Saturday night, he would come there early, his searching eyes fixed on the door of the dormitory, devoutly looking forward to the appearance of his girlfriend.
