Liberal and enlightened may not be a good word for Odrade. After all, in her impression, this word contains some harsh views and prejudices against women.
That mantra does have some meaning, but everyone will have fear, and this fear may come from different aspects. If you can face your fear, you have shown your courage.
The older the Virgin is, the more things she should know. There are also some differences in opinions and some age gaps in the conversation between Schwanyu and Lucilla.
