A cloud floated as lightly as a bird to the top of a distant hill; then the southern sky turned as pink as a leopard's gums; then the smoke rusted the metal in the night; and finally the animals fled in terror. What happened hundreds of years ago is happening again. The ruins of the Vulcan temple were once again burned by fire.
