The Chirping of Cicadas Stops Midsummer
by He Yi
About This Novel
The summer wind carried the heat of the stadium and the sweat of the teenagers, blowing up a two-way secret love hidden in high school that ended in nothing. The story begins with a basketball game. Yang Liuyi (the female protagonist) went to cheer for the boys' team of her school during a break in the girls' team's game. She immediately noticed Wen Huaijin (the male protagonist) who was running wantonly on the court and had outstanding strength. Wearing a blue uniform, he broke through layers of defense, with a flamboyant look on his face, like a stone thrown into the heroine's heart unexpectedly, causing ripples. Because of this competition, they went from strangers to familiarity, and gradually got closer to each other through chance encounters and daily interactions between classes. The thoughts of boys and girls are hidden in the tiny moments, and a secret love grows quietly on the campus in midsummer. It wasn't until rumors in the class made Yang Liuyi mistakenly believe that Wen Huaijin had the same intention, and finally plucked up the courage to confess her love, but he simply refused. The heroine turned away silently, sealing this secret love in the hot summer. Many years later during a truth or dare, he sent her a text message by accident: "I like you." The misunderstanding was resolved, and the true feelings became clear, but the boy was no longer a boy (referring to the heroine), the cicadas stopped chirping, and the summer was over.
