About This Novel
It is the first chapter-length chapter novel in the history of Chinese novels. The novel is based on historical stories from the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the reunification of the Western Jin Dynasty from 184 to 280 AD. It uses a large-scale structure and a combination of fiction and reality to focus on the various political, military, and diplomatic struggles among the ruling groups of Wei, Shu, and Wu. While vividly revealing the intrigues and life-and-death struggles within the ruling class, it also created a number of vivid images of wisdom, loyalty, and righteousness.
