by (ming Dynasty) Original Work By Shi Naian, Translated And Annotated By Fujie
About This Novel
"Water Margin" is set in the late Northern Song Dynasty. It tells the legendary story of 108 heroes who gathered in Liangshanbo to rebel against the oppression of the people by officials and held high the banner of "doing justice for heaven" to resist oppression. The whole book revolves around the fate of heroes such as Song Jiang, Lin Chong, and Wu Song. It shows the fighting spirit and brotherhood of the people at the bottom through classic plots such as outsmarting the birthday card and attacking Zhujiazhuang three times. Although it ended with the recruitment of troops, and all the heroes suffered casualties in the conquest of Fang La, the work profoundly exposed the decadence of feudal rule and praised the courage to resist tyranny. As one of the four classic Chinese classics, the book, with its vivid portraits of characters and vivid descriptions of the marketplace, has become a master of folk chivalrous culture and has a profound influence on later generations of literature and social values.
