About This Novel
The story of "Journey to the West" gradually developed and took shape after hundreds of years of evolution after Xuanzang of Tang Dynasty learned the scriptures, and was compiled into a novel in the Ming Dynasty at the latest. This edition of "Journey to the West" is based on the earliest existing 100-chapter edition of "Journey to the West", which was published in the Jinling Shidetang edition. We also used two Japanese Tibetan editions for proofreading, hoping to give "Journey to the West" a more original look in writing. For missing, confusing, and erroneous versions of the original text, refer to other Ming and Qing versions for selection. The annotations of this book also refer to the research results of modern scholars. Rigorous annotations are made on traditional religious and philosophical vocabulary, proverbs and basic classical Chinese words that appear in the novel. The original manuscripts of Shiben are partially preserved in the form of annotations. I would like to help readers better understand this great masterpiece. It also comes with a special set of "Journey to the West Stories", allowing readers to read the original Journey to the West without any obstacles.
