Water Margin
by Chen Bin
About This Novel
"Water Margin" edited by Chen Bin is the first chapter-style novel written in vernacular Chinese in Chinese history, and also the first full-length novel praising the peasant uprising. The book describes the story of 108 heroes led by Song Jiang who gathered together in Liangshan. Through a series of stories of Liangshan heroes resisting oppression and fighting bravely, it reveals the sharply opposed social contradictions and the cruel reality of "officials forcing the people to rebel" in the late Northern Song Dynasty. The book creates many vivid and distinctive characters. They act chivalrously and fight violence, and have become heroes in the hearts of many readers.
