About This Novel

This book collects newspaper columns, speeches and other non-fiction works written by Bolaño from 1976 to 2003. Based on the collection "In Wind, Frost, Rain and Snow" published by Alfaragua Publishing House in 2019, it also adds articles that are not included in this collection but exist in the collection "Between Parentheses" published by Anagrama Publishing House in 2004, as well as two non-fiction essays from the collection of short stories and essays "The Intolerable Gauchos", striving to collect all existing non-fiction works of Bolaño in one book. The book is divided into three parts: newspaper writing, lectures and speeches, and reading and re-reading, covering a wide range of topics. In it, Bolaño details the writers and works he likes or dislikes, and also records interactions with friends in real life, as well as interesting and strange things he encounters occasionally. In one or two pages, these people, things, and things can be vividly presented to readers. His real life trajectory, literary ideas and personal emotions are all in it.
