"The Symbol of Depression" is a work by the Japanese literary theorist Kukawa Hakumura. It was translated and introduced to China by Mr. Lu Xun in 1924, and was used as a teaching material for his classes at Peking University and Beijing Normal University. That is, it is a symbol of depression. This book is based on the second volume of the 1929 Japanese Renovation Society's "The Complete Works of Shirakawa Hakumura" and includes Lu Xun's introduction to the first edition and his translation notes.
