About This Novel

This book was selected into the 2021 Anhui Province Excellent Novel Project Series. It tells the story of 1937, after the fall of Shanghai, and the Japanese army began to march crazily towards Wuhu City in southern Anhui. Three party members of our party on different fronts in the city took on the urgent task of evacuating the refugees across the river. These three members of our party, a few left-behind national army soldiers, and some ordinary people living at the bottom of society jointly formed a special refugee rescue team. They were not afraid of bloodshed and sacrifice, put aside all personal grudges, and tried their best to protect the refugees crossing the river. On the last day before the Japanese army closed the city, the refugee rescue team battled wits with a Japanese squad on the riverside, conducted a tenacious sniper attack, and successfully protected the refugees from crossing the river. It shows the heroic and fearless spirit of sacrifice of our party members and composes an immortal song for the Chinese nation in the context of the times. It is also the song of the Yangtze River for the passionate heroes of our Chinese sons and daughters.
