About This Novel

The novel is set in the Mu Us Desert in northern Shaanxi and uses the Elaeagnus lucidum Coal Mine as the scene. It tells the story of a series of conflicts between Fang Zheng, the new director of the Elaeagnus lucidum Coal Mine in the Mu Us Desert area, and Gao Xinxin, the secretary of the mine party committee, and Lu Qian, the deputy mine director who is an "airborne cadre" after he took office. The novel describes the real living conditions and mental outlook of Mu Us coal miners at the beginning of the 21st century, and comprehensively demonstrates the vicissitudes of the reform and development of the coal industry since the reform and opening up.
