About This Novel
Zhang Junchi is used to disappearing when pressure comes, treating busyness as dignity and silence as protection; Xia Nanyin is used to closing the door after being injured, not making any noise or making a fuss, but saying "forget it" cleanly and neatly. They met and missed each other again and again in Shanghai, Hangcheng, Suzhou, Xicheng, Mountain City, Spring City and far windy places, not because they didn't love each other, but because they always left what they wanted to say the most until next time. This is an urban emotional novel written for the fast-paced era: using the white lights of convenience stores, the cold light on the river, the reflection of glass after rain, the steam of hot soup and withdrawn voices, it describes how adults lose each other in dignity and exhaustion, and how they learn to be present. There is no grand oath, only more difficult choices: not to hide, not to open the door, and change the next time to now.
