The 1954 Jianghuai Flood, the 1976 Tangshan Earthquake, the 1998 Yangtze River Flood, the 2003 SARS, the 2008 Southern Ice and Snow Disaster and the Wenchuan Earthquake are among the constant disasters in contemporary China. A large number of literary works reflecting these major disasters have appeared in contemporary literature. This book searches and collects many contemporary literary works, cites a large amount of information from different disciplines such as politics, society, and economics, and uses theoretical and analytical methods from history, cultural sociology, political science, psychology and other related disciplines to conduct a comprehensive and specific investigation of works describing natural disasters in contemporary literature.
