by Gan Wangming
About This Novel
In the early Ming Dynasty, a future imperial concubine and a poor boy secretly ate forbidden fruit and were punished with death. After pretending to be dead, they were able to escape from the golden cicada's shell and escape into the virgin forest. They encountered ferocious beasts and wildfires and survived. They also encountered a sinkhole sinking hundreds of feet into the ground and became isolated from the world. Just as they were preparing to spend the rest of their lives together, they welcomed their child. For the sake of their child, the male protagonist tried his best to climb out of the sinkhole. When they were living and working in peace and contentment, they were hit by war. They took in a group of women and children to avoid the tiankeng and lived a paradise-like life.
