About This Novel

In the early Qing Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty system was established, and scholars were selected based on the eight-part system. In the 22nd year of Qianlong's reign, during the Ding Chou Examination, the imperial court issued a decree to add a five-character and eight-character rhyme poem, and it was custom-made to select scholars for the examination. At present, a large amount of theoretical information on trial verse poetry has been preserved in various poetry talks, anthologies, prefaces and postscripts to collections and poetry criticism from the Qing Dynasty. This book takes the development of trial verse poetics in the Qing Dynasty as a clue, examines its theoretical characteristics and achievements in three stages of development, from its initial beginning, mid-term completion, to new changes in the late Qing Dynasty. It deeply analyzes its stage characteristics, explains the core theoretical viewpoints, and comprehensively sorts out and displays the development context of the trial verse poetics in the Qing Dynasty.
