This book is a collection of papers from the first international symposium on cross-cultural Chinese characters. The papers mainly include the compilation and interpretation of Japanese and Korean ancient dictionaries and Chinese characters on inscriptions in a cross-cultural context, the study of Chinese characters and documents on Chinese inscriptions, as well as the textual research and interpretation of unearthed and handed down documents, Chinese character theory, and the history of Western Chinese character studies. The study of cross-cultural Chinese characters has attracted the attention and participation of more and more scholars. Some regard "cross-cultural Chinese characters" as the research object, that is, studying Chinese characters in different cultural environments; others regard "cross-culture" as the research method and perspective, that is, studying Chinese characters of one culture in conjunction with external cultural factors.
