I Can't Forget That Bowl of Soup
About This Novel
On New Year's Eve, my mother cooked two pots of mushroom soup and said that my sister and I would have one portion each. I secretly changed my sister's bowl. As soon as he drank it, he was slapped to the ground by his mother. "Dare you snatch your sister's food in front of me?" "Like your bastard father, feeding an unfamiliar white-eyed wolf!" Mom pried open my mouth and forced the red mushroom that belonged to me into my throat. I lay in the woodshed, twitching all over, and the lights and shadows in front of my eyes were blurry. I'm floating in the air. I saw my grandma looking for me everywhere with a cane. Mom looked impatient. "Stop looking for me. You're stealing my sister's food and you're embarrassing me with a few words." "You're already in elementary school, how can you die outside?" Grandma wiped her tears and was about to go out to look for me, but she saw me covered in bruises in the woodshed.
