About This Novel
Aldo Leopold (1887-1948) was a famous ecologist and environmentalist, known as "the pioneer of new environmental theory in the United States" and "the father of land ethics". In 1935, he purchased an abandoned farm on the banks of the Wisconsin River and moved his family into the farm, using it as a laboratory and observation station to conduct extremely delicate and complex ecological conservation work. "Sand Country Almanack" is the records and essays he wrote while working and living on the farm, as well as some of the papers published in newspapers and periodicals. This manuscript is divided into three parts. In the first part, the author describes the wild landscape of Wisconsin with affectionate brushstrokes, revealing a world that is both natural and well-regulated. The second part contains some interesting and thought-provoking nature stories. The third part is the author's prophetic views on environmental conservation. This book adds some new illustrations and explanations to the original hand-drawn illustrations, and includes the author's diary and notes.
