This book focuses on the narrative theory of Russian formalism, especially the theory of novels. It is the first attempt and exploration in China to systematically study this content. It mainly includes two periods: Russian Formalism and Post-Russian Formalism, with the former mainly represented by Shklovsky, Eichenbaum, Tomaszewski, Jacobson and Tignanov. Specifically, this research mainly focuses on the school's theories on the essence and plot, form and function, time and space, protagonist and narrator, and literary history of narrative works, and examines the construction, historical evolution and development rules of the school's narrative theory system.
