Borges created his last collection of poems in 1985. He wrote in the "Preface": "In a book written by an eighty-year-old man, the first element fire will not account for a large proportion... I often feel that I am earth, barren earth. However, I am still writing" and, as always, he practices his aesthetic beliefs in poetry creation.
