About This Novel

Through the juxtaposition of two "cultural heritage" cases, the "national intangible cultural heritage" Liulin Panhui and the "county cultural relics protection unit" Longwang Temple in Liulin County, Shanxi Province, the author reveals the differences, contradictions and complexities contained in the seemingly unified and coherent concept and practice system of "cultural heritage" in complex local daily life. Viewed from the perspective of anthropological cultural heritage as a whole, the Panhui and Longwang Temple in Liulin people's daily life, their changing past and present, and the broader postmodern "cultural heritage" discourse background in which they are located are presented in this multi-voice "cultural heritage" ethnography from a postmodern perspective, which also provides inspiration for answering the question "What is 'cultural heritage'?"
