Sun in the Yard
by Li Lanmo
About This Novel
There is a sleeve tree in the yard. It is still there more than 20 years ago. The grapefruits it produces every year are big, sweet and full of water. Standing under the tree, the sun shines on your face through the sparse leaves, which makes the tree shadows mottled. It has been uninhabited for a long time, and the steps at the entrance of the courtyard are covered with moss and weeds. The childhood playmates have already gone their separate ways, and the surrounding villagers are busy working in the fields. In recent years, they rarely set foot in this almost abandoned courtyard. The Xiaoxi family only goes back to stay for a few days during the Qingming Festival or the Spring Festival. It's the end of the year, and Xiaoxi has just come back from overseas. It's so dusty. Her parents won't be back this year. She opens the courtyard door and puts down her luggage. The dim sunset hits the red brick and gray tile courtyard wall, and time seems to start to go back a little bit...
